i've hit the library recently and came across this chinese art book with brooding themes like life and such, i really like the pictures but too bad can only hold on to it for 3 weeks(my account is pok, too much late returns to renew book)i'll like to buy it, if anyone sees this book, pls tell me where u saw it, or help me buy and i'll pay u :)


i read this book yesterday, the title is called "exchange"and its abt this plump boy called simon who had to readjust his life after his parents died in a plane crash.tho the scenario is quite common,but the story is realistically written.He was sent to live with his grandparents, and he felt everything was so unreal to him, for he couldn't accept the fact that his parents are dead yet.his granma,winnie, was an avid reader like him, and every sat they board buses to other towns to eat in cafes and scounge for books in 2nd hand shops.the book started with simon coming home from a shopping trip for his granma, dragging a trolley shopping bag on wheels, and he was laughed by the "cool" kids who hanged around the town for being such a weirdo.(apparently cool kids dun shop for granmas and pull shopping bags on wheels)
so one sat, they chanced upon this shop called "the great big book exchange" in which antique and well-y preserved books were sold at a really cheap price, and if u br the book back after u finish it, u'll get back half the credit for ur next books.i liked this idea.and the visual impact of the bookstore was really great, with the layout being described as a "labyrinth of corridors", "dim light" and "books piled high up to the ceilings". it sorta appealed to me, i wouldnt mind such a shop too.
so simon and his gran joined as members and they're lives changed, with his gran being brought back into her past tru the books she read, and simon meeting a goth girl named kelly, who was working in the shop, and who helped him to close the painful chapter of his life behind.
the cover is quite unappealing, but the story is perfect for all book lovers out there. :)

i've also read another book recently.i found it in the children's section, but wait, i'm not slumming.:) its a beacutifully bound hard cover book that tells its story in a vastly new way-it promises to give its readers a cinematic journey as they read the book or rather see it. it comprises of 284 intricately hand drawn line drawings abt the life og Georges melies, the person who dared to dream, its not a biography tho, its fictional and involves an orphan clock keeper and his quest to reapair the automata that his father had found before he died.the seemingly unrealated leads somehow twists together in the end, and it also provides more knowledge abt automatas and Georges melies.
i'll recommend it to students doing film studies or arts, or u can just flip tru the many glossy pictures.its abt 3.5cm thick tho.



i'm going to blog less and less of my life, cuz i no longer know what i'm supposed to do, and m increasingly unsure of what i want.
these 17 years i seem to have done nothing that is eternal, and have accomplished little. zero.my dreams are becoming more elusvie, and my confidence has taken a dip recently due to certain frictions with one of my close friends.i hope to bounce back soon..pray for me if u can. thank you.. :)
