i went to equinox last night,my first foray and glimpse into the night life, and i survived it.There are a few things i need to thank God for, that i din catch a cold wearing this slinky bubble dress, that i could actually dance fast dance in my 3.5 heels, that its over, and that i managed to get an honest cabby9 who din drive me somewhere to rob me, it was pretty late)
anyways yesterday was fun and scary at the same time.
it swept away my pre-conceived idea of proms (dress pretty, sit nicely, eat dinner, choose king and queen and maybe slow dance a bit)
yesterday was fast, hot, and slick. it was so much fun watching the scholars dress up,garters and stockings anyone? O.O scary..
and they party hard, the starting songs were boring, with live bands, but all we could hear was the bass beat. bad.den towards the end, the dj starting mixing stuff and the party livened up.
man, can they dance, gyrating hips and clapping hands were everywhere, and i'm just swept up in it all. i esp hate the strobe lights, its like those old flick movies, where all the pictures were drawn stationary, but flicked fast.when they lights come on, u lose all ur sense of direction and sound, and u can only dance dance dance, its addicting and freaky, and u see all ur friends move in slow mo, to some imaginary beat, and eventually i found myself asking how come i'm here, why m i aimlessly dancing, and shaking my body here.
its like u standing still and blinking slowly while the world moves around u.
so every time u open ur eyes, ppl are doing different actions but u never see them move, cuz its so fast, it takes ur breath away.
thankfully there are no alcohol, or i'll go home immed.
the slow dance was fun, seeing my choir seniors and pm lee chacha and boogie and waltz was so fun, haha, and i realised i could dance (hidden talent! tho i MUST commend estelle, she was fantastic, twirling and spinning and gyrating for all she's worth)
and i realised something : scholars are definitely not all muggers, they party hard, damn core hard, its so scary to see the nerdy looking scholar on the same bus as u, pick up girls so easily, and strutting their breakdancing skills and doing the waltz with some lucky girl. and yelling at the dj for more.
u just have to stand back, stare agape in shock, before ur mind processes the scene and tell u u're not dreaming. :)
cool
eye opening.
all in all, it was fun, don was a nice companion, and i had fun.and the roses were pretty
tho freaky, i suddenly realised there were drinks stirred ready and put on tables for thirsty and exhausted dancers to recharge and hit the dance floor again.
its so accessible too convenient
like this situation seems eerily familiar and yet so distant last night
my mom keep warning abt things like this, careful of drinks like that. i drank quite a lot of drinks from ppl i dun really know.
quite mad with myself.
in america, isnt there lots of cases like rape pills snuck inside drinks?
like isnt yesterday the same sorta scenario?
i;m not saying yesterday was bad, i trust the ppl
i;m just mad for letting my guard down, letting myself lose it, and just dance like mad, losing all my senses of danger.
din those poor victims started out like this too?
so in a way, yesterday was fun, but it taught me that no matter how fun the night life is, i've to stay alert.
yep thats it :)
so if next time i go to a similar night scene with boogieing and screaming ppl, i'll be on my guard, it always pays to be alert beforehand.
i sound paranoid.
sigh, having a fever now.
